About Us

Well now! You might ask … who are these folks that are offering me sailing stuff?

We are … Lynne and Fred.

I, Fred, have been sailing for nearly two decades. Lynne, not quite as long. Frankly, I'm confident I infected her with the sailing bug when we met, and take full credit for it.

You’re welcome, My Luv.

In early 2021 we moved our boat to St. Petersburg, Florida to transition from lake sailing on Lake Lanier to coastal sailing and perhaps more.

"We" are also a couple of rescue pups … Jack and Jenny. Black Jack, the Lab ... the retriever extraordinaire … and Jenny, the “Yella Hussy” ... a Lab/Beagle mix ... and K9 QueenBee.

Our boat … our tiny home for those best of times … is a 1980 Morgan 382. Her name is Ostara. Here she is at anchor off Emerson Point Preserve on the Manatee River in Florida. If you run into us sometime, please give us a shout. We'd love to visit.

We started Sail Life for a couple of reasons.

We like t-shirts, especially for sailing. While we have been out and about, we’ve noticed a decided absence of t-shirts or any other casual, comfortable, kick-back apparel, especially of quality, that speak to what we love ... Sailing.

So, we decided to do our best to rectify that problem.

The second reason we started Sail Life is to donate to non-profit efforts to save the health of our oceans. We've seen too many floating plastics, and so give 10% of all profits to the 501(c)(3) Sailors for the Seas.

And, yes, there is the profit motive.

What we choose to sell is first viewed through the prism of our sailing experiences. Does it fit this lifestyle? Is it comfortable? Is the quality good enough for us to want to wear or use the product? To test, we buy a sample for ourselves, evaluate it, and, if appropriate, wear, wash, and dry it. If it doesn’t measure up, it’s not offered.

Our products are viewed through the prism of … is it FUN?! Might the quote or image on a shirt strike a FUN chord? Might it lift the spirits of, or strike an emotional chord for one who chooses to wear it? Or does it speak to something that's important to us ... specifically the "Save Our Seas" collection?

Don't see something that speaks to you? We'd love to see your suggestions. Use the contact form and give us your thoughts. We're very interested and might offer it.

Basically, while sailing is a lot of work … it’s a lifestyle of fun and satisfaction. In the final analysis, you work your tail off ... take risks … in order to live this life.

If still you don’t love it … perhaps you should sell your boat and buy an RV.
